About Us

IQ esports is Ontario's first esports training academy. Designed by industry professionals and PHDs in education, IQ eSports is dedicated to helping gamers of all levels learn to improve their play, build core and transferable skills, and learn about the industry.

What We Do

We provide after-school and summer programs delivered on-site at schools for students aged 8 and above with a focus on high-school students.


We deliver a program across our 'four pillars': Game Skills, Numeracy & Game Design, Physical Health, and Player Psychology. Our program mixes class lectures, hands on activities, and individual instruction.

Improvement

We've broken down what it takes to get better by game and by player skill level. We have specific courses and exercises that improve reflex, game thinking, core game mechanics, and help players keep calm under pressure. Whether casual or professional, we can help you get to the next level.

Our classes focus not only on improving video game skills, but also on physical and mental heath. Players learn nutrition, stress management, and teamwork through the medium of video games.

Our programs and teaching methods are developed by teachers and professors and are aligned to mathematics and literacy curricula at the elementary and secondary school levels, and aligned to computer science and game design curricula at the post-secondary level.

Our relationships in the eSports industry mean that we can provide the right opportunities for players with professional team or industry careers through post-secondary programs, including audio/video, broadcasting, and programing.

Our program focuses on using play and video games to teach core STEM skills in a fun and interactive way. We set goals with the students and give homework using video games to spark a joy and interest in learning and study

Who We Are

Geoff

With a history of documentary work, instruction, esports competition, gaming news coverage, and event management, Geoffrey Lachapelle has experienced video gaming from all angles. Geoff has worked on gaming and media projects with the CBC, Cineplex, VICE, and others. Geoff also lectures at Humber College in the Game Programming curriculum.

Matt

Matt Brudzynski is an experienced technologist and a serial entrepreneur with over 19 years’ experience bringing various types of software and products to life. In addition to his software and consulting business, in 2013 Matt developed a mobile version of MULE - a game that is considered one of the most influential games of all time. Matt resides in Toronto with deep connections in Canadian corporate enterprise.

Kris

Dr. Kris Alexander brings over a decade of experience developing curriculum and initiatives in media production, video games, and the esports industry. He has created video game curricula and programs for Humber College, Ryerson University, Concordia University, University of Toronto, LEARN Quebec, CSLP Montreal, and Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for Interactive Ontario.

Dave

With over a decade of experience in esports Dave Throop is one of the leading experts in the space. He competed semi professionally, worked on professional broadcasts and has an extensive history of writing gaming guides, coaching and other educational content within esports. He currently writes for a variety of esports publications, including World Gaming, as a content creator, hosts his own podcast and works as an advisor for esports startups.
